AIDS Accountability International released on World AIDS Day 2009 the first ever global scorecard analyzing country responses to the specific needs and vulnerabilities of women in the context of the AIDS epidemic.  This independent assessment and rating was developed through a consultative process with global health and civil society representatives from around the world.  Globally, HIV/AIDS is the leading cause of death and disease in women of reproductive age worldwide.
